María Belén Paoletta

Founding Partner

Professional Experience

María Belén Paoletta is the Founding Partner of IntLaw LLP. Her practice focuses on public international law, and international contractual and treaty-based arbitration, acting in complex proceedings across Europe, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.


Belén has advised over fifteen sovereign States and State entities and represented numerous corporate clients in international contentious and non-contentious proceedings in matters amounting approximately USD 7.5 billion. Her experience spans international trade law, foreign investment protection and international human rights law.

Academic and Thought Leadership

Belén is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Buenos Aires Law School and regularly lectures at other leading academic institutions.


Belén is a member of the Review Board of the Foreign Direct Investment Moot (FDI Moot). She also serves as a Year in Review Reporter for the Yearbook of International Environmental Law (Oxford University Press) and is an editorial contributor to the Argentine Council for International Relations’ Bulletin of International Law. Furthermore, she leads IntLaw’s flagship research project, Greatest Hits & Hidden Gems of International Law, partially developed at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law.


As part of her ongoing practice, Belén speaks at international conferences and publishes in leading international law journals on a regular basis.

Education and Professional Qualifications

Belén holds Law Degree summa cum laude from the University of Buenos Aires Law School, graduating in the top 1% in the institution’s history, and has received multiple awards recognizing her academic and professional excellence. Belén is barred in Buenos Aires.
